Elizabeth Blair Trent was already an experienced attorney when she moved to Southside in 2012, and since then her experience has only grown.  She currently has an active practice including criminal defense, representation of children as a Guardian Ad Litem, and all matters of family law such as divorce and child custody.

After graduating with a Bachelor of Arts from Hollins University, Blair received her Juris Doctorate from Regent University School of Law and began working as an Assistant Commonwealth Attorney first in Portsmouth and then here in Halifax County.  She left the Halifax County Commonwealth's Attorney's office in 2013 to begin her own private law practice, The Legal Boutique, and operated that firm until going into practice with Mike at the beginning of 2015 by starting the Trent Law Practice.  Through these experiences Blair has come to know the importance of truly serving our community, and that's where the practice's dedication to free consultations and court appointed indigent work came from.

In addition to her desire to serve the area in her legal practice, Blair has been extremely involved in serving our community in her personal life since moving to Southside.  Most recently, she served as the President of the Prizery during the 2014 year.  In addition, she has been very active in the Halifax County Bar, the Destination Gallery downtown, the GFWC Virginia, the South Boston-Halifax Junior Woman's Club, and Tri-County Community Action. She is an active member of St. John's Episcopal Church and mother to a busy baby boy who you might see running around the office. Blair is a strong advocate of equal rights for all members of every community and firm believer in the equal protection clause. 🏳️‍🌈

Lena Rush is a Notary Public and serves as our Office Manager.  Lena is not only the first person you'll probably speak to when contacting our office, but in many ways is the glue that holds The Trent Law Practice together.  She does this by combining her education with great and unique professional experiences, and perhaps most importantly her real world common sense and hard work.

While serving our nation in the US Marine Corps, Lena received her paralegal certificate, and shortly after retiring with 20 years of service she received her Bachelor of Arts from the American Military University.  She was then a Program Analyst/Logistician with Camber Corporation from 2008-2013, before beginning work with Blair at the Legal Boutique in 2013.

In addition to her work with The Legal Boutique, and now The Trent Law Practice, Lena is a great wife, mother, and leader in our community.  Lena continues to be an active member of the South Boston-Halifax Junior Women's Club, which is how she and Blair met prior to working together.  She's also very involved with the South Boston Elementary Parent Teacher Organization and Halifax County Middle Parent Teacher Organization.
Michael T. Trent is an experienced attorney with an active practice including criminal defense, general civil litigation including personal injury, and estate planning including wills and estates.  His love for our Southside Virginia community is deep, with not only his growing up in Charlotte County, but with the vast majority of his family having called all different parts of Southside home.

After graduating with a Bachelor of Arts from Lynchburg College, Mike received his Juris Doctorate from Suffolk University Law School in Boston, Massachusetts.  He then decided to come home to Southside, and began working as an Assistant Public Defender.  At the PD office, he focused at different times on both Halifax and Mecklenburg Counties, until joining Blair to start the Trent Law Practice.  Now, he loves combining his training and experience with his devotion to this area in offering quality legal representation at affordable rates.

In addition to his dedication to the practice of law, Mike has and continues to be just as dedicated to serving our community in all sorts of other ways.  Over the years, he has regularly volunteered as a coach in local youth sports, been involved in the granting of scholarships for our young people, served as President of the Halifax County Bar Association, and been involved with local civic organizations such as the Lions Club and the Halifax Village Association. He serves as a vestry leader at St John's Episcopal Church in Halifax and as a councilman for the Town of Halifax. Mike is the proud father of the same busy boy you might see at the office.
